living our own flight plan!!

In January we took our family to Florida on vacation.  On the flight home my son, who was then 7, said he had to go to the bathroom.  Because I hadn’t seen the Jodie Foster movie Flight Plan and the fact that he is capable of going potty without help I let him go by himself.  With 5 other kids needing drinks, candy, movies and complimentary pretzels I kind of forgot that he had gone.  A few minutes later when the captain announced the final descent, I started doing the usual head and seatbelt check.  That’s when I realized my son was still in the bathroom.  So my husband jumped up to check on him.  After knocking on all the doors he couldn’t find him.  My husband came back to see if he had come back to his seat - which he hadn’t.  So then my husband went back and then waited for all the bathrooms to empty.  He figured which bathroom our son was in.  After knocking again and trying to get an answer the flight steward unlocked the door.  We found our cute son fully dressed sitting on the potty holding on to the metal rail with all the strength his little 7 year old body had.  My Hubby asked,” what’s up Buddy?  Are you ok?”  To which my son responded, “Well the “Remain Seated Light” came on Dad so I couldn't get up, but don’t worry I’m holding on real tight!”

  1. Why am I not surprised to read that a child of you and Eric is so obedient?? Too cute ... And great material to tease him with at his mission farewell, future wedding reception, and everywhere else!! Not to mention - wonderful object lesson. ;oP
