Good Bye Naptime! I will miss you!!!

Do you see this adorable face? I have to admit this face makes me smile
from deep within my soul just by looking at him.  All I have to say is,
"It's a good thing he is the cutest baby, too!!!"

First, we have been mastering night time sleeping. Which took awhile, but
80% of the time he sleeps in his own crib.  The other 20% of the time he is
with me in bed.  (I know I'm a horrible parent for allowing co-sleeping.  I
also use disposable diapers and give my kids frozen nuggets for lunch!! I'm
horrible.) Naptime is what we just can't get down-- not because I don't know
how to nap a baby. Trust me. I love naptime and have mastered it with six
other babies. Naptime at my house is the only time I have to clean, shower,
read my scriptures, eat lunch and, for that matter, breathe most days.  So I
know the importance of naptime.  At almost 9 months you'd think we'd have a
schedule.  Which I guess we do. This is how it works almost every day.

Feed my 3 year old lunch. Then lay him in his bed, give him kisses, cover him up
and walk out of the room.  He goes to sleep and stays that way for the next
2 to 3 hours.  During this time I try all my tricks and some new ones to get
my adorable baby down for a nap.  I try and have tried everything.  He has
napped 3 times in the last 4 months. (Before that only in his car seat if he
fell asleep in the car.)  Only staying asleep between 10 to 20 minutes and
always on the couch.    The only place I have found he doesn't wake up
immediately upon laying him down.  So today I decided to try my bed.  I know
I'm not supposed to put him in my bed, but my house and my sanity needs a
naptime!!! So I get him to sleep and then go through what can only be
described as carefully choreographed yoga as I try to slip me out of my bed
and then finally out of my room without waking the now peacefully sleeping
darling baby.  I'm trying not to cheer and do a happy dance until I'm out of
the room, but before I can even fully get out of the room my phone rings.
At this point, I'm very grateful I turned off the ringer on the phone in my
room.  I run downstairs to answer the phone, and I'm so happy to have my
first real naptime in almost 9 months.  Then my happiness is spoiled by
spilled milk-- spilled milk all over my now very wet and embarrassed child.
My wonderful child asks if I can please bring new pants to school. It's bad
and doesn't look like spilled milk.  I, of course, say yes and now head back
up stairs to wake up my now sleeping baby.  Ah the life of a mommy!!! It's a
good thing they are cute, and besides I hear being a grandma is amazing!!!

  1. You are a good mom. The things we do to get them to sleep! (And I only say that having had one, not seven babies.) He really is adorable...
